98 Simon boots are made from brown leather with a distressed, worn-in surface that varies in tone across the boot. The toe and heel areas are darker and shinier, creating a two-tone effect against the matte, lighter brown of the main body.
The shaft slouches at the ankle and is wrapped with a wide strap that buckles on the outer side. A circular metal plate with visible rivets is attached to the strap as hardware detail. The boots lace partway up the front through metal eyelets. The toe is rounded and the heel is a low stacked block style.
The sole is chunky rubber with a textured tread pattern and visible grooves. The darkened leather at the toe and heel shows the distressed finish extends around the edges of the boot. The overall construction has a heavy, rugged look with the mix of lacing, buckle strap, and slouched shaft.
